From High to Clear: My Story of Quitting Weed Habit and Taking My Life Back

"You’re not weak. You’re just wired for comfort. But you can rewire that."

🧭 When I Moved to Canada, I Didn’t Plan to Get Stuck

When I first arrived in Canada, weed was everywhere. Legal. Casual. Normal. At first, it felt harmless — even helpful. I used it to ease into a new country, a new culture, and a new chapter of life. But slowly, what started as an occasional escape turned into a daily habit I couldn’t control.

It didn’t happen overnight. It crept in while I was “figuring things out.”

The turning point begins with a single decision.

🔁 The Weed Habit That Hijacked My Drive

At first, it was relaxing. A vibe. A way to deal with stress and boredom. But over time, I noticed something was off:

  • I stopped finishing things I started.

  • I lost track of days, even weeks.

  • My focus was trash.

  • I had ideas — lots of them — but never took real action.

  • I started to forget who I was trying to become.

Weed didn’t destroy my life — but it numbed it. And the worst part? I kept telling myself, “I’ll get serious tomorrow.”

💡 The Moment It Clicked

One day, after another foggy morning, I looked at my journal and realized… I hadn’t written in two years.

I had dreams of building something online. I had books I wanted to read. I had business ideas I never even started. And I was letting all of it drift — for a high that gave me nothing in return.

That was the day I decided: I’m done being stuck. I’m done getting high just to avoid life.

🔨 Quitting Wasn’t Perfect — But It Was Worth It

I wish I could say I quit cold turkey and everything got better. Nope. I had relapses. I got lazy. I doomscrolled. I made excuses.

But over time, I found what worked:

  • Replacing the trigger — I used my planner to track habits instead of lighting up.

  • Staying physically busy — I walked more, worked out, cleaned.

  • Cutting down screen time — especially in the evening (when cravings hit hardest).

  • Creating structure — simple routines that made space for clarity.

And most importantly, I built something bigger than the habit.

🚀 I Created Project Escape

This blog isn’t just a brand. It’s a mission. It’s for people who are stuck, not because they’re lazy — but because they’re lost in a loop.

Weed was just part of the loop. So was doomscrolling. So was starting and quitting ideas. Project Escape is my way of breaking that cycle — and helping you break yours.
